INCIDENTS
City:
Thursday, 5:35 p.m., residence in the 1100 block of South Jersey Street. Female caller reported that she was contacted by a person who apparently was pretending to be an acquaintance of the caller. The contact was made through Facebook Messenger. The woman gave some of her private information to the scammer before she realized she was being scammed.
Thursday, 6:48 p.m., Praxis, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officers and Wells County EMS responded to a report that man, who was not a patient at the facility, had possibly overdosed.
Thursday, 11:18 p.m., mobile home in the 800 block of Cari Drive, Bluffton Woods mobile home park. Officers responded to a report of an unwanted man at the residence. The man left after officers served a protective order on him.
Friday, 9:30 a.m., residence in the 1200 block of West Washington Street. Report of a raccoon on the porch of the residence that was refusing to leave. Officer dispatched but the raccoon had left before the officer arrived.
Friday, 10:41 a.m., Bluffton High School, 1 Tiger Trail. Report of a disorderly student.
County:
Thursday, 2:26 p.m., Ind. 124 at Ind. 201 Wabash at Johnson street. Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a gray Honda after receiving a report that it was weaving all over the road westbound on Ind. 124 heading into town. Driver was not impaired. Children were fighting in the backseat of the car causing the driver to swerve.
Thursday, 8:12 p.m., U.S. 224 at 500E. Sheriff’s deputy assisted a motorist whose vehicle had run out of gas.
Friday, 4:05 a.m., U.S. 224 near Hancock Street, Zanesville. Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada after clocking the sport utility vehicle at 65 mph-55 zone on 100W north of 300N. Cameron Douglas Dohrman, 27, rural Bluffton, was arrested on one count of driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class A misdemeanor. Dohrman’s license had been suspended by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles because he had repeatedly failed to insure his motor vehicles.
Ossian:
Thursday, 7:09 p.m., residence in the 300 block of South Jefferson St. officers, Wells County EMS and Ossian Fire Department first responders called to the residence on a report of an unresponsive 66-year-old man. Wells County Coroner contacted.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Tuesday, 9:54 a.m., Wabash Street at Main Street. Although governed by a traffic signal, the signal was not working and Indiana Department of Transportation crews had just posted stop signs on Main Street after having posted stop signs on Wabash Street only earlier. Most traffic was, per Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles protocol, treating the intersection as a four-way stop. Conseulo Garza De Arriaga, 45, rural Bluffton, was northbound on Main Street when she stopped for the intersection. Her 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was then hit from behind by a 2008 Cadillac SRX driven by Frank Davis, 61, Bluffton. Damage exceeded $1,000.
Wednesday, 10:40 p.m., Mulberry Street at Wiley Avenue. Wes Ricker, 36, Bluffton, told a Bluffton police officer “he had been drinking a lot of alcohol” and crashed his 2014 Ford Fiesta into a parked 2022 Ford Maverick registered to Michael Miller, Bluffton. Damage exceeded $10,000.
County:
Thursday, 5:40 a.m., Ind. 116 near 500W. Todd A. Burke, 54, Bluffton, hit a deer with a 2018 Ford Transit van registered to Esco Communications Inc., Indianapolis. Damage to the van exceeded $1,000.
FIRES
Friday, 12:41 p.m., Linder Oil, 820 Industrial Parkway. Fire alarm. Ossian Fire Department responded. It was determined that the alarm was triggered by a brief power outage in Ossian.
ARRESTS
Andre Tyrone Koker, 46, Fort Wayne; failure to appear in court and possession of marijuana, both Class A misdemeanors, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $6,500.

Lauren M. Baker, 24, Bluffton; no or improper license plate light or taillights and failure to provide vehicle registration, 700 block of North Main Street.
Ashley L. Miller, 21, rural Markle; 70 mph-50 zone, U.S. 224 in front of Norwell High School.
Matthew G. Kraft, 17, Fort Wayne; 55 mph-45 zone, 100E north of U.S. 224.
