No mail service Monday; N-B delivery delayed a day

Mail service will be halted due to Monday being a federal holiday (Presidents’ Day), so home delivery of the News-Banner will be delayed one day. Monday’s edition will be delivered with Tuesday’s edition.

If you are a subscriber who would like Monday’s paper on Monday, stop by The News-Banner office at 125 N. Johnson St. where you can get a copy of the paper at no additional cost.

Our website will be updated with Monday’s content and e-edition as usual that day as well.

Papers will be available for sale on newsstands and at The News-Banner office, which is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

County Drainage Board will meet Tuesday morning

The board of the Wells County Solid Waste District will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

Topics on the agenda include financial reports, the supervisor’s report, and medical waste disposal.

County Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning

The Wells County Commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

• Appointments with Wells County Sheriff Scott Holliday, Highway Supervisor Shawn Bonar, and Wells County Engineer Nate Rumschlag.

Bluffton Board of Works to meet Tuesday afternoon

The Bluffton Board of Public Works and Safety will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the meeting room on the first floor of City Hall, 128 E. Market St.

Topics on the agenda include:

• A request for a pantry in the right of way, brought to the board by the Department of Child Services office in Bluffton.

• A request for an amendment to the Community Re-Investment Program, brought to the board by Michael Lautzenheiser.

• A discussion about Parlor City Market, brought to the board by Audry Dudley of Bluffton NOW!

• A personnel matter, brought to the board by Brandy Fiechter of the Bluffton Parks and Recreation Department.

• A personnel matter, brought to the board by Operations Manager Jon Oman.

• A personnel matter, brought to the board by Police Chief Kyle Randall.

• A request for a cleaning contract, brought to the board by Randall.

• A request to purchase a camera system from Flock Safety, brought to the board by Randall. 

There are three items of old business on the agenda — the Alleyway Project, the Fire Department insurance policy, and city standards.

The agenda is unchanged from the Feb. 15 meeting, which was postponed until Feb. 22 due to a lack of a quorum.

Northern Wells school board will meet Tuesday

The board of the Northern Wells Community Schools will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Lancaster Elementary School, 275 E. Jackson St. in Bluffton.

Topics on the agenda include:

• Personnel matters — two requests for leave and four hiring recommendations.

• COVID-19 continuing education guidance document update.

• Second reading and approval of several board administration and personnel policies.

• Retirement of several board policies.

A strategic planning work session will begin immediately following the regular board meeting.

An executive session will be held at 4 p.m. prior to the board’s regular meeting. During the executive session, which will be closed to the public, the board will discuss an employee and receive information about the individual’s alleged misconduct.
