Man dies after he was caught in industrial door
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — A man died after getting caught in an industrial door at a western Indiana steel plant, a sheriff said Saturday.
First responders were dispatched Friday morning to the Steel Dynamics Heartland LLC plant in Terre Haute and found the man caught in a large roll-up industrial door, Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said.
Fire department personnel could not find a pulse on the victim while he was still caught in the door, and once he was released, they determined he was dead, Plasse said.
An initial investigation indicates the man was possibly repairing or working on the door when he became caught in it, the sheriff said.
The investigation is ongoing pending an autopsy, Plasse said.
The man’s name was not immediately released.
Police: Indiana mom left autistic son, 5, in Ohio
COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) — An Indiana mother who authorities say drove to Ohio and abandoned her 5-year-old autistic son on a street was captured in Kentucky when police there arrested her on an unrelated warrant.
The child was found unharmed about an hour after he was abandoned in Colerain Township on Thursday night, authorities said. The boy, who is nonverbal, was spotted by passing motorists as he tried to wave down cars.
His mother was arrested Saturday night at a gas station in Georgetown, Ky., on an unrelated warrant. Authorities later learned about the charges that had been filed that day in Ohio, and they are now working to bring her back there to face those counts.
It’s not clear why the mother abandoned the boy or why she did it in Ohio, authorities said. She lives in Shelbyville, Indiana, which is about 75 miles west of Cincinnati.
