Attention gentleman, if you haven’t checked the calendar lately, Monday is Valentine’s Day!
Next week is also National Random Acts of Kindness Week, which encourages us to put kindness first and share it everywhere we go. Not only does being kind to someone else lift them up, but there are also benefits for you too! Being kind makes you happier, is good for your heart, increases your self-esteem, and helps you live longer. Be the unexpected gift to someone this coming week with your kind words and gestures.
If you would like the opportunity to do something fun with the kids, next weekend is the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance and the Mother-Son Nerf War event. Tickets for both events are being sold in the Clerk Treasurer’s office at City Hall for only $5 per person. The Nerf War will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and the Winter Wonderland Theme Dance is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Both events are being held at the 4-H community building. Details about both programs are on the Bluffton Parks Facebook page.
It’s been a while since we have mentioned it, but the Community Harvest Farm Wagon comes to Bluffton every Tuesday at 9 a.m. to give free fresh food to families in need. This program is held in the south parking lot of Life Community Church, 428 S. Oak St. Volunteers will help you find a parking spot starting at 8:15 a.m., and we ask that you arrive by 8:50 a.m. to gather your information before we start. Once everything is ready, we will direct you to maintain a slow roll as you drive by, and we will load items for you. Please make sure you make space in your trunk.
Did you know that Yoga helps reduce anxiety and stress, helps with focus and concentration, and can improve your strength, balance, and flexibility? Join us at Washington Park for an all-level yoga class every Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. to treat yourself to a fun and healthy activity. You need to bring your own mat and $5 to join.
Free Open Gym is in full swing, and supervised activities will continue until March 17 in the Bluffton City Gym for children in kindergarten through Grade 12. All participants must fill out a parental permission slip (either on the first day they attend, or you can print one off and send it with them from the city’s website at www.blufftonindiana.net under the Parks Department Gym Page).
This program is four days a week from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Calendars are available on the city’s website, and the program will cancel on days when Bluffton Schools close due to bad weather. Free snacks are provided for the kids.
We are now accepting pool rentals for this summer. The facility rents for $125 an hour and includes the giant slide, lifeguards, and free pavilion use for up to 150 people. Parties with over 150 guests are $175 per hour due to additional staffing.
