Wells County’s COVID-19 status this week is yellow, according to statistics compiled by the Indiana Department of Health.
Wells has a two-metric score of 1. Blue status goes to counties with a score of 0 to 0.5, with yellow at 1 to 1.5. Orange is 2 and 2.5 and red is 3 or over.
Wells County’s scores were 63 new cases per 100,000 cases, a listing made for statistical purposes, and a positivity rate of 6.64 for all tests.
Wells has a lot of company in the yellow category this week, as a plurality of the state’s 92 counties — 43 — are yellow. Three are blue — Adams (northeast Indiana), Carroll (north central Indiana), and Martin (southeast Indiana).
There are 41 counties listed in the orange category and four — Gibson, Warrick, Floyd, and Scott, all in southern Indiana — are listed as red.
Among northeast Indiana counties, LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Whitley, Allen, Huntington, and Blackford join Wells in the yellow category.Wabash, Grant, and Jay counties are listed as orange.
