Pauline Marie Parr, 91, of Berne, Ind., passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at Woodcrest in Decatur, Ind.

Pauline was born April 7, 1930, in Berne, to Jacob Gerber and Adina Gilliom Gerber. She was united in marriage to Jerry Parr March 15, 1959; he preceded her in death Jan. 3, 2015.

Pauline was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne where she sang in the “Messiah” and taught children’s church. 

She was employed at IGA in Berne for several years and also at Lengerich Meats, and later Manley Meats in Monroe for more than 20 years.

When her children were younger she enjoyed making them  Halloween costumes, and making faberge eggs, and Scherenschnitte paper design.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (Annette) Parr of Markle and Robert (Debra) Parr of Berne; a daughter, Paulette (Todd) Whaley of St. Louis, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Kris (Jessika) Adams, Danielle Parr, Brandon (Ashley) Parr, Nathan Parr, and Micheal and Adina Whaley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by a brother, James Gerber.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne with Pastor Jim Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in the M.R.E. Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne.

Preferred memorials can be given to Riley Children’s Hospital.
