Fourth graders from Lancaster, Ossian, Southern Wells and Bluffton “Traveled to Better Health” on April 23-24 at the 4-H Community Building on a two-hour tour to different parts of the country.
Molly Hoag, program director for the Y.M.C.A., was in charge of the event which the Wells County Foundation helped to fund.
Representatives from various organizations manned the “healthful stations” which took the kids on healthy trips from New York to Wyoming.
Classes were divided into groups of up to 10 kids, who went from station to station every nine minutes. That’s when Molly blew the whistle for each group to move on to another of the 10 stations.
Stations and sponsors included: Hand Washington D.C. sponsored by Bluffton Regional; Smile Bright, S.C., also Bluffton Regional; Las Veggies, 4-H Extension; Aero b ausque, New Mexico, 4-H Extension; Beware, Delaware, American Red Cross; Moody Montana, school counselors; the Great Smoky Mountains, JOLT; Wells Yoming, YMCA; Reading, Pennsylvania, Wells County Library and Sunburn Valley, American Cancer Society and Bluffton Regional.
