The town of Zanesville is in both Wells and Allen Counties. The Wells County Area Plan Commission serves the entire town. Zanesville’s elected officials are the three members of the Zanesville Town Council and the Town Clerk-Treasurer. They were elected in 2010. Regular town council meetings were designated as the third Thursday evening of each month at 6:30 p.m.

The Zanesville Sewage is managed by the Fort Wayne City Utilities. Customer service, account and billing issues should be directed to Fort Wayne's Customer Relations department at 427-1234. This number operates during City Utilities business hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5: 30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Questions or problems in the sewer system should be reported to Fort Wayne's One Call to City Hall center, at 427-8311. This number can be used to report problems 24-hours a day, seven days a week. When the center is not staffed, your call will be directed to the Sewer Maintenance department or the Police Desk Sergeant.
Carl Collins is the Zanesville Town Marshal. The police NON-EMERGENCY number is 638-4080.
Fire protection is by the Southwest Allen County Fire Department. The NON-EMERGENCY number is 747-2938.
Electric service is from American Electric Power and United REMC. Natural gas service is from NIPSCO. Garbage collection is by National Serv-All.
Zanesville’s annual major community activity is the Homespun Days event in early September.
