Ossian Rotary will continue its series of speakers who either experience disabilities, or assist those who do, so we can all be better neighbors to those individuals.

Michael Kuhn, Development Director at Camp Red Cedar, will speak to Ossian Rotary Thursday morning. (Photo submitted)

Michael Kuhn is the Development Director at Camp Red Cedar – an inclusive summer camp, horseback riding facility in northern Fort Wayne, and recreational therapy provider for children and adults with diverse abilities. His involvement began in 2019 as a volunteer. In 2022, Michael transitioned to a full-time role as the organization’s first development director. In his first year in that position, Michael helped raise over $500,000 through fundraising events, corporate sponsorships, individual contributions, and grants. Michael also oversees The Lodge at Camp Red Cedar, which is the organization’s 6,250 sq. ft. rental venue. Through these efforts, Michael’s primary focus is to ensure a financially sustainable future for Camp Red Cedar.

Prior to joining the Camp Red Cedar team, Michael worked at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne, and if Michael looks familiar, you may recognize him from his time as a reporter at WANE 15 where he covered breaking news and current events.

Michael’s passion for philanthropy extends outside of his typical work responsibilities. He is a Rotarian with the Fort Wayne Rotary Club, serves as an elder at his church and volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a “Real Men Read” volunteer. In his limited free time, Michael enjoys making memories with his wife, who is a special education teacher, and their 3-year-old son. He also loves hanging out with his huge immediate family and going on vacations with them.

Anyone is welcome to attend Ossian Rotary on Thursday mornings, at 7:30 at First Baptist Church of Ossian, 1001 Dehner Drive.

Next Thursday’s speaker, James Beetham, will be discussing serving in the Marine Corps Honor Guard to deliver appropriate honors to Marines at their funerals. Please note that if Norwell Schools have a cancellation or delay, we will not meet.
