Zachary Allen McDowell, 27, Bluffton, was sentenced to one year at the Indiana Department of Correction. McDowell was given 148 days of jail credit for the 74 days he has been incarcerated so far.

The sentence comes after McDowell pled guilty to domestic battery, a Level 6 Felony, in August. McDowell was charged with domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old in June after police were called to his residence.

According to a probable cause affidavit, domestic issues at this residence have been ongoing. McDowell reportedly told officers he put his hand up after the woman attempted to hit him several times. She reportedly began to hit him back after this and the two continued to argue. McDowell was the only party that acquired charges from the incident.
