Jean D. Pearson, 74, of Bluffton, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 25, 2022, at the Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Jean was born Feb. 2, 1948, in Huntington. She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Mauger; her mother, Bessie Caswell Gerber; and her stepfather, Mike Gerber.

Jean graduated from Lancaster Central High School and retired from Franklin Electric in Bluffton after more than 20 years of service. She enjoyed dancing and bargain shopping, especially at garage sales. She will be remembered for her incredible friendliness and greeting everyone, whether friends, family members, or strangers, with a hug and kiss. Most of all, she loved, and was loved dearly, by all her family and friends. 

Survivors include three sons, Dennis “Dee” (Mia) Ellet of Peru, Shanon (Holly) Ellet of Markle, and Trinity (Cecelia) Ellet of Bluffton; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arnold “Tex” (Amanda) Mauger of Bluffton.

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Jean was preceded in death by her former husband and close friend, Charles “Charlie” Pearson, and a sister, Carolyn Gearheart.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the funeral home, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Wayne Ball will officiate. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Huntington County.

In lieu of floral tributes and gifts, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Helping Hands Pregnancy Resource Center or to Union Church to support the Lighthouse children’s program.
