Bluffton-Harrison school board will meet Monday
The board of the Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the school district’s administration building at 803 E. Harrison St. in Bluffton.
The first item of business on the meeting’s agenda is a public hearing on Form 3, the Capital Projects Plan, and the Bus Replacement Plan. Copies of the district’s plans are available on the district’s website at www.bhmsd.org/notices
Other topics on the agenda are:
• Review financial reports.
• Reports from the assistant superintendent and the superintendent.
• Enrollment report.
• ISBA legislative priorities.
• Middle School roof replacement and improvements project.

• Review of several policies, including the district’s mission statement, student achievement policy, vocational education, and programs for handicapped students.
• A tentative agreement on a master teacher contract.

Markle Town Council will meet Wednesday evening
The Markle Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Markle Town Hall, 197 E. Morse St. in Markle.
Topics on the agenda include:
• A public hearing on the 2023 budget.
• A report from Kim Hostetler of the Huntington County Department of Community Development concerning amendments to the Markle Zoning Ordinance and Flood Hazard Overlay District.
• A request from the Markle Area Historical Society.
• Superintendent’s, assistant superintendent’s, and town marshal’s reports.
• Huntington County United Economic Development report.
• Clerk-treasurer’s report and approval of vouchers.
Street Fair causes delay of local meetings
Several local government meetings on Tuesday have been canceled because of the Bluffton Free Street Fair, which starts on Tuesday.
The Bluffton Board of Public Works and Safety and the Bluffton Common Council will not meet on Tuesday.
Three county meetings have been called off Tuesday as well — the meetings of the Wells County Commissioners, Drainage Board, and the Solid Waste District.
