Loretta F. Poling, 81, of Greensburg and formerly of Bluffton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, at Decatur County Hospital.
Born May 22, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of George W. Clark and Adeline A. Allmon Clark. She married Rev. Eston E. Poling Jr. Oct. 25, 1957, and he preceded her in death July 8, 2018.
Mrs. Poling is survived by her four children, Darrell Poling, Kevin (Sherry) Poling, Brian (Amy) Poling, and Cheryl Denise (Terry) Wagner, all of Greensburg. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Myrna) Clark of Sarasota, Fla., and Thomas (Cheryl) Clark of Columbus, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Jim (Dee) Poling; three sisters-in-law, Irene, Martha Poling, Marcia (Elmer) Pate, all of Bluffton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Ginger (Keith) Reynolds of West Virginia and Joyce (Marlin) Reece of Ohio; and a brother, Edward (Karen) Clark, who had lived in Florida.
Mrs. Poling graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. She served in the ministry with her husband for 60 years.
She worked as a foster grandparent for the Greensburg Elementary School. Loretta loved singing and playing music. She was known for her quick wit and gentle spirit. She loved being a grandma to her grandkids as well as many “adopted grandkids” who attended Greensburg Elementary School. She loved to play games and was “always a winner.”
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Bethel Apostolic Church, 630 W. Hendricks St., Greensburg, with Pastor Todd Smith and Rev. Glenn Seaman officiating. Burial will be in South Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m.
