Interview with Donita Harris, junior at Southern Wells High School.

How old are you?

16

What grade will you be going into?

 11th

What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?

One day it was raining outside and there were puddles on the ground, and I went to go run in them. I ended up falling into one of them.

Oh no! Too funny.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go and why?

I’d go to Paris because I love French culture and I want to try all of the food they have to offer.

You have found a suitcase containing $1 million. The authorities say it’s yours to keep. What do you do with it?

I’d do the smart thing and invest in the stock market so I can get more money. And I’d also give some of it to charity.

That’s awesome.

Tell me something about a parent or relative that you find awesome and you hope to accomplish someday?

My mom was able to immigrate and start a new life in a brand new place. I want to be able to move to a bigger city (possibly LA or New York) when I’m older and be able to accomplish more things.

That is wonderful!

What are you proudest of?

My friends and family. I like to watch them accomplish all of the things that they do.

What do you wish that you knew how to do that you can’t right now?

Karate or some form of gymnastics.

Do you own a pet?

Yup, four cats.

What are their names?

Boys: Midnight and Smokey

Girls: Tiggy and Maria

Great names.

How did they get their names?

Those were their names when we got them, but Midnight is black and Smokey is grey so their names kind of correlate with their fur.

Can you tell me a joke?

I would, but then it wouldn’t be very punny.

[Laughing] That’s great.

Are you involved in school sports, music or other activities?

Sports: Track and Field

Music: Choir

Other activities (clubs): Student Council, Spanish club, Biology club, Table-Top Gaming club, Art club, Sunshine Society, and Yearbook.

You do a lot! That’s good.

How about outside of school activities?

Unless you count playing video games, I wouldn’t really have any.

Do you think it’s important to speak and understand other languages?

Absolutely, being able to speak other languages opens up more opportunities to communicate with other people from different places.

Is there a language you want to learn? Why?

I want to learn a few languages, Spanish, French, and Korean. I just feel like they’re the most relevant languages to me other than English. And I like all of the cultures that go along with them and the countries/regions that they’re from.

What is your favorite game to play and why?

GTA 5 because it’s super fun to do heists.

Who is one of your friends that make you laugh all the time?

I have a friend who lives in Georgia who can make me laugh about anything.

That’s the best!

Who is your most academically inclined friend?

My friend Amelia obviously, she gets all A’s.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years and how will you get there?

Not really sure, but I want to somehow make it in the media industry, whether it be behind or in front of the camera. I feel like with a lot of hard work, a good agent, and good management I could make it happen.

Wonderful. I know you can make it happen. I am sure you will be very successful.
