Ossian Health Communities will offer free lunches to citizens 65 and older starting Friday.

“Considering recent events and the uncertain social climate our community has been experiencing shortages of much needed supplies and some food items,” a press release said. “This impacts those at risk and those members of our community that are 65 and older.

“Ossian Health Communities wants to help where we can and when we can,” the release added.

The free sack lunches will include a turkey roll-up sandwich, a cup of soup, a cup of applesauce, a cookie, and a bottle of water. Items will be in disposable containers.

The lunches will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday and 100 meals will be distributed.

Meals will only be provided for people 65 and older. If the person picking up the meal is not the recipient, the person receiving the meal must be present.

Meals can be picked up through the furthest east entrance of Ossian Health Communities, located at 215 Davis Road, through the assisted living parking lot and through the overhang. Exit through assisted living.

“We would love to continue this each Friday as the current situation continues. So, please tell your neighbors, friends and family,” the release said.
