Interview with Jase Warner, junior at Southern Wells High School.

Jase Warner

How old are you?

I’m 17.

What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?

We just got back from out West. I think one of the funniest things was that we watched buffalo walk right down the horse trail.

Oh my gosh.  Where at?

Yellowstone.

Wow, haha. So you just sat back and watched them and laughed at them?

Yes.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go and why?

Alaska. I love being outdoors, and I want to go see Alaska.

Great! Do you want to go when it’s cold or in their warmer months?

I don’t care.

You have found a suitcase containing $1 million. The authorities say it’s yours to keep. What do you do with it?

I’d probably buy a truck and then just keep the rest.

Ok. So do you have a certain kind of truck in mind?

Dodge Cummins Diesel.

Nice!

What are you proudest of?

I got to go to Oklahoma this last spring for soil judging, so I think that’s one thing I’m proud of.  Also, being involved in FFA.

What is soil judging?

Where you look at the soil and you decide whether it would be good for farm ground or homes.

Oh good! That sounds interesting.

What do you wish that you knew how to do that you can’t right now?

I think one thing would be fly-fishing. I think that would be fun.

I think that would be cool too. Where would you like to do that?

Doesn’t matter. Alaska.

Do you own a pet?

No.

Ok, done with that question. Ha-ha.

Can you tell me a joke?

I can’t think of one.

Ok, no problem.

What is your favorite class in school and why?

Either math or ag class. Math just comes easy to me.

All right, great.

Are you involved in school sports, music or other activities?

Only FFA.

How about outside of school activities?

4-H. We do the shooting sports. Archery, shotgun.

Oh wow. Nice.

Do you think it’s important to speak and understand other languages?

I think it’s important to know them, but I’m not sure if it’s really necessary to understand them.

Is there a language you want to learn?

No.

Ok. You just want to stick with English then?

Yes.

What is your favorite game to play and why?

I think my favorite game to play is Euchre. When we have family get-togethers, we usually play. I think one time we played ’til after midnight.

Awesome. I enjoy Euchre too.

Who is one of your friends that make you laugh all the time?

I think James. He is just fun to be around. It depends what he is doing too.

[Laughing] Does he get a little crazy?

Yes.

Who is your most academically inclined friend?

Matt. He is just smart, and if you ask him, he will help you.

That’s a good friend to have.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years and how will you get there?

I see myself in a welding job. Just by practicing with welding.

Good. Are you going to go to trade school for that?

Maybe.

OK so welding and anything else in life in general?

I think I want my own house too.

Good! You have a great future ahead of you with welding and FFA and the soil testing. I think you will be very successful.
