Interview with Emme Boots, Sophomore at Bluffton High School.
How old are you?
What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?
I left my car running for two periods during school. I left the keys in the ignition.
Ha-ha. Did you have enough gas?
Yes. I did.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
Probably Greece. Just because of the buildings and it’s really pretty there.
You have found a suitcase containing $1 million. The authorities say it’s yours to keep. What do you do with it?
I’d probably donate a lot of it, but I would definitely keep some of it and travel.
Tell me something about a parent or relative that you find awesome and you hope to accomplish someday?
My mom and her job. She started off as a Nurse and worked her way up to a Nurse Practitioner. She deals with a lot of cancer patients and I feel that really cool that she gets to help people.
What are you proudest of?
My basketball accomplishments. Just because I put so much work into it.
So you play on the Bluffton High School Basketball team?
Yes. We won sectionals this year.
Wow! That’s wonderful.
What do you wish that you knew how to do that you can’t right now?
Play the guitar. I just think it would be fun to play it. There is a kid in my grade that can do it. It’s pretty cool.
Do you own a pet?
I have 2 dogs. Both girls. One’s big and one’s tiny. An Airedale Terrier and a Miniature Schnauzer.
What are their names?
The big one is Roxie and the little one is Lulu.
How did they get their names?
I’m pretty sure I picked out both of them.
Can you tell me a joke?
How do you make a tissue dance?
I don’t know.
Put a little boogie in it.
Ha-ha. Oh, that’s great!
Are you involved in school sports, music or other activities?
Basketball and volleyball.
How about outside of school activities?
I do travel basketball.
I’m sure that keeps you busy.
Do you think it’s important to speak and understand other languages?
Is there a language you want to learn? Why?
Spanish. I’ve taken two years of it so far. To be fluent in it would be fun. If I travel like I want to it will be way easier to communicate with people.
What is your favorite game to play and why?
Basketball is kind of the only thing I do.
Who is one of your friends that make you laugh all the time?
Olivia. She is funny. She does funny stuff all the time. She just doesn’t care. She’s kind of a goober. She’s like free spirited.
Who is your most academically inclined friend?
Elayna. She wants to be valedictorian for our class.
Is she in the running for Valedictorian?
Yes she is.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years and how will you get there?
I hope that I’m a teacher and I want to be a coach. I plan to go to college. After college I plan to start coaching. I also want to open up my own training place in Bluffton. For a lot of people they have to go to Fort Wayne and I think it would be cool to have a local one.
What grade do you want to teach?
High School English.
It sounds like you have great future plans. I know you will be very successful.
