Dylan Osborn

How old are you?
I’m 14.

What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?Yesterday, I went to a store with Emily and she made me try on this vest. I looked really stupid. The reason I tried on the vest is because my dad wears vests and we make fun of him. Emily wears vests too, but they’re like cute ones.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
Probably California because I’ve been to Florida and I really like it.

I feel like it would be the same kind of experience, but on a different side of the U.S.

Anything you want to do there or a particular city?
Not really. Somewhere near the water.

You have found a suitcase containing $1 million. The authorities say it’s yours to keep. What do you do with it?
Save it until I figure out what I really want to do with it because I have no idea.

Tell me something about a parent or relative that you find awesome and you hope to accomplish someday?
Janet works really hard all the time. I strive to be something like that. She changes her hours for us kids and stuff.

What are you proudest of?
Right now I’m really liking how I‘m doing in track. School too, but school is not as fun.

So you get good grades? What do you do in track?
Yeah. I run mostly the 400.

What do you wish that you knew how to do that you can’t right now?

I wish I could learn how to drive. I’d like to learn how to speak Spanish fluently.

And you will drive soon, right?
Yes.

Do you own a pet? What are their names?
I just got two fish and snails. They live in the fish tank. We also have dogs. One of my fish is Phillip the other is Houdini. My girlfriend named Houdini. Our new dog’s name is Gabi and we also have 2 other dogs. Opie and Ellie. Gabi got her name because she whines or kind of talks.

Can you tell me a joke?
I used to be addicted to the Hokey Pokey, but then I turned myself around.

Haha! That’s a great one.

What is your favorite class in school and why?
It’s either my math class or my engineering class right now. Math is pretty easy. Sometimes it can be challenging and I like that. My engineering class because we use this program called Inventor and you make like 3D models of stuff. Auto Cad.

Are you involved in school sports, music or other activities? Any outside of school activities?
Track. I did football for 2 years. I might keep doing that or maybe Cross Country. I’m kind of on the fence about that. I’m in Youth as Resources. It’s a community service thing. We’ve packed clothes at Forgotten Children. We helped fund the Eagle Scout program by planting trees by the Wabash River.

Do you think it’s important to speak and understand other languages? Is there a language you want to learn?
Yes. If I was going to move somewhere I needed to learn some other language I would, but Spanish I think is really useful because we are really close to Mexico so a lot of people speak Spanish here.

What is your favorite game to play and why?
I really like Track. I like to make music on my computer in the basement.

On my computer I have this program called FL Studio. You can make whatever you want on there. Any type of music.

That’s a pretty neat hobby to have!

Who is one of your friends that make you laugh all the time?Zander. Shout out Zander. Shout out to my girlfriend Emily too!

Who is your most academically inclined friend?
Hayden. I have him in most of my classes. I just know he has good grades and we help each other out and stuff.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years and how will you get there?
I think I would be done with college. I think I want to stay in Ossian because I like the small town feel. I haven’t figured out yet what career I will have.

Sounds like you do well in school and have some good plans! It was very interesting talking with you.
