Janet S. Park, 83, of Ossian, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Kokomo, to the late Jesse and Louise Barnhard Spangler.
She worked as a microbiologist for many companies and organizations including Eli Lilly and Company, Springfield Memorial Hospital, University of Michigan, Sherman Hospital, Riverview Hospital of Noblesville, Medicinal Lab of Indianapolis, and Pitman Moore of Terre Haute.
She served as organist and pianist for many Lutheran churches along with being a member of their choirs, most recently at New Hope Lutheran Church, where she was a member. She also served as a LWML representative, participated in many ladies groups, and taught Sunday school.
She was a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the American Society for Microbiology, the Mary Martha Society, and the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha Park of Florida; granddaughter, Aliesha Whitesell; and a sister, Elizabeth (Fred) Osborn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Thomas Park; son, John C. Park; sister, Miriam Spangler; and brother, Dr. John Spangler.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 18, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church.
