Deborah Lyn Brinneman Carson, 54 of Dana Point, Calif., died on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Saddleback Memorial Health Center in Laguna Hills, Calif.

She was born in Walnut Creek, Calif., on June 4, 1963, to Dale and Judy Brinneman. The family moved to Indiana in 1973, and Debbie attended Southern Wells.  She graduated from Southern Wells in 1981 (the “real” valedictorian). She completed her bachelors of science degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University in 1989. She married Burton Carson on March 5, 2001; he survives.

She worked for the City of Mission Viejo for 15 years, most recently as program engineer, focusing on the storm water program, water conservation and protecting the environment.

Debbie was very active with the American Cancer Society, supporting the local Relay for Life events — most recently as Survivor Lead, coordinating the survivor dinner and survivor recognition at Relay for Life.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her mother, Judy Brinneman of Sun City, Calif.; daughters Sydney (Antoine) Martin Culbreath of Fort Wayne and Elise (Steven) Martin Riddle of Ninole, Hawaii; a brother, David (Deanna) Brinneman of Bluffton; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Brinneman, and a brother, Douglas Brinneman.

Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
