Norwell freshman girls beat Cadets
The Norwell Knights girls’ freshman basketball team defeated the Concordia Lutheran Cadets 29-18 Thursday night at Fort Wayne.
The Knights (13-2) were led by Kylie Topp with 11 points and Ashley VandenBoom with 10. Juliana Kittelson added three points, Kyle Strunk and Emily Eubank two apiece and Tianna Moser one point.
Bluffton boys fall in freshman hoops
Huntington North defeated the Bluffton Tigers’ freshman boys’ basketball team 48-29 Thursday night at Huntington.
Eli Inskeep led the Tigers with 13 points. Cole McConnell added six points, Kyler Poling five, Everett Johnson three and Gabe Eisenhut two points.
Raiders’ freshmen cagers lose
The Southern Wells Raiders’ freshman boys’ basketball team lost to Liberty Christian 38-25 Thursday night.
Thomas Biddle scored 12 points to lead the Raiders. Mason Huffman added six points, Kevin Haigh three, Caleb Pugh two, Caleb Woodward one and Gage Allen one point. Reid Shaffer, Colton Paxson and Knute Ripperger did not score.
Raider eighth-grade boys win
The Southern Wells Junior High School boys’ eighth-grade basketball team defeated Saint Joseph’s Catholic School of Decatur 45-24 on Thursday night, but the seventh-grade Raiders lost 31-10.
Kreigh Roush scored 13 points, Dylan Junk 12 and Nathan Lozoya 10 to lead the eighth-grade Raiders (9-7). Michael Parks added five points, Jed Perry three and Reece Hasinbiller two points.
Evan Reynolds, Tanner Johnson, James Foss, Nick Monk and Owen Vickrey each scored two points for the seventh-grade Raiders (2-14).
Norwell seventh-grade girls advance
The Norwell seventh-grade girls’ basketball team defeated Leo 43-12 Thursday night in conference tournament action to improve its season record to 15-2.
Lauren Bales scored 17 points and Maiah Shelton 10 points to lead the Crusaders. Shelton also grabbed eight steals. Lindsay Collins added six points, Macy Eckert and Hailey Henschen three each, Breanna Glasgow two, Hannah Hawkins one and Grace Bradtmueller one point. The Crusaders will continue tourney play Monday at Leo against New Haven.
Crusader eighth-grade boys triumph
The Norwell eighth-grade boys’ basketball team beat Leo 30-28 Thursday night in conference tournament action, while the seventh-grade Crusaders lost 29-21 to Leo.
Quinton Purdy scored nine points to lead the eighth-grade Crusaders. Will Geiger added six points, Cade Wilson four, Logan House three, Conner Torson two, Dallas Topp two, Beldon Glasgow two, Jason Johnloz one and Drew Federspiel one.
Eli Riley led the seventh-grade Crusaders with 13 points. Joel Rinkenberger added five, Tanner Felger two and Brett Wathen one point.
