Wilma Jean Gilbert, 91

Wilma Jean Gilbert, 91, of Bluffton, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Kindred Health and Rehabilitation of Bluffton. 
Wilma Jean was born in Petroleum Sept. 9, 1921, to Clarence D. and Lela (Hollon) Risser. She married Dwight W. Gilbert in Petroleum Jan. 11, 1942; he preceded her in death.
Wilma Jean graduated from Petroleum High School in 1939 and was a life-long resident of Wells County. She was a homemaker and also worked many years with her husband in their business, Gilbert’s Garage. She was a member of the Bluffton Reformed Church and regularly attended the First Baptist Church. 
She is survived by two daughters, Melanie (Ted) Shady of Bluffton and Debbie (Daniel) Church of Smithville, Mo.; one brother, Edward (Marlene) Risser of Bluffton; one sister, Velmarose (Herman) McCormick of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Todd (Robin) Shady, Marla (Ben) Karas, Sarah (Seth) Price, and Matthew (Paloma) Church; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas Shady, Stephanie Shady, Leah Karas, Alex Karas, Brian Karas, Noah Price, Rachel Price,  and Abigail Price; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Risser and Dortha Evans.                
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Risser and Kent Risser, and by a grandson, Michael Shady.  
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, and 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dr. Bryson Bell and Pastor Les Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Bluffton Reformed Church, First Baptist Church or Family Life Care.
