Wayne ‘Woody’ Woodward, 84

Wayne B. “Woody” Woodward, 84, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away July 16, 2014.
He was born in Bluffton to Erma and Forrest Woodward and was a graduate of University of Dayton School of Engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was employed by Wyoming Highway Division as a professional engineer. He left his position at the Highway Division to start Woodward Engineering Inc. He relocated the business to Deerfield Beach, Fla., until his retirement.
He was civic-minded and very active in Deerfield Beach politics, serving as city commissioner. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce. He was the civil engineer for the Deer Creek Development.
Mr. Woodward is survived by his wife, Barbara Anne Woodward; sons, Wayne B. (Julie) Woodward Jr. and William Forrest (Teresa) Woodward; a daughter, Pamela Sue (Gabriel) Vallejo; nine grandchildren, Ranee-Jo Woodward, Gabriel Ryan Woodward, Monica Jane Woodward, Marissa Lyn Woodward, Meagan Marie Woodward, David Wayne Woodward, Andrew Ross Woodward, Ben Aron Vallejo, and Tobia William Vallejo; sister, Guiney McClain; and a sister-in-law, Doris Woodward.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest “Frosty” Woodward, and a sister, Wava Swartz.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. Calling will be at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
