Victoria L. Hardin, 66, of Petroleum, died unexpectedly at 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at home in the company of her family.
She attended Muncie Central High School and enjoyed reading books and solving puzzles. She had worked with her brother at County Line Towning in Markle for more than 20 years. She attended Etna Avenue Wesleyan Church in Huntington.
Mrs. Hardin was born July 26, 1946, in Muncie, to Calvin Lee Higdon and Thomasine Brannon Higdon. She married Carl J. Hardin Sr. May 12, 1969; they shared 39 years together before he preceded her in death Nov. 17, 2006.
Survivors include three sons, Carl J. Hardin Jr. of Marion, Johnny N. Ridge of Petroleum, and Bill (Shelia) Maggard of Texas; five daughters, Brenda (Randy) Wolfe of Bluffton, Cindy (Todd) Landrum of Berne, Betty (Jeff) Bolding of Warren, Gwen Cavanaugh of Petroleum, and Hope Garrett of Muncie; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin D. Higdon of Geneva; a half-sister, Deanne Mensen of Lafayette; and a best friend she considered to be a sister, Lillian Watters of Royerton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Higdon and Dale Nolan Higdon, and a sister, Gwen Higdon.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney and Lemler Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Bradley officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to breast cancer research or to the Friends of the Wells County Animal Shelter.
