Robert C. Aschliman, 89, of Bluffton, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Christian Care Retirement Community.
Mr. Aschliman worked for National Oil and Gas Co. for 21 years, from 1958 to 1979. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.
He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Wells County, to Noah Aschliman and Naomi Gilliom Aschliman. He married Ida Ringger Aschliman Aug. 28, 1943, in Lewistown, Ill. His wife survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Keith “Skip” (Connie) Aschliman, Kevin (Beth) Aschliman, and Kelly (Lisa) Aschliman, all of Bluffton; three daughters, Becky (Perry) Isch of Bluffton, Vicki (Steve) Bucher of Washington, Ill., and Gayle (Clint) Bucher of Carmel; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn “Butch” Aschliman of Bluffton; and two sisters, Dorothy Moser and Sara Jane Meyer, both of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild; two brothers, Kenneth Aschliman and Harold Aschliman; and three sisters, Mahilda Dubach, Evelyn Ely, and Delores King.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church East in Wells County with Steve Ringger and Ron Kipfer officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. There will be calling from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Goodwin-Cale and Harnish Memorial Chapel with additional calling one hour prior to the service at the church.
The U.S. Army, in conjunction with members of American Legion Post 111, will conduct military graveside services.
Preferred memorials are to the Christian Care Retirement Community’s “Good Samaritan Fund.”
