Max A. ‘Pat’ Garrett, 88

Max A. “Pat” Garrett, 88, of Bluffton, went to be with the Lord at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Kindred/Meadowvale Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Pat was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Liberty Center to N. Mount and Ada (Craig) Garrett. He married Lorene M. Ireland Jan. 11, 1947, in Covington, Ky. She preceded him in death April 17, 2009.
Pat graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1943. He was a World War II Navy veteran, having served our country from 1943 to 1946. He was a self-employed construction contractor. Pat was also a school bus driver for Southern Wells Schools for 43 years. 
Pat was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bluffton, Liberty Center Lions Club, American Legion Post 111, and a life member of the V.F.W.
Pat is survived by two daughters, Laurie (Michael) Russell of Poneto and Michele Suman of Bryant; a son, Larry A. (partner Elaine Pratt) Garrett of Ossian; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Gray Garrett; a brother, Mike Garrett; and two sisters, Ruba Jane Harris and Mary E. Harris.
Calling hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. A service celebrating Pat’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 111 and the U.S. Navy/Army Honor Guard.
Preferred memorials are to the First Church of the Nazarene.
