Larry W. Kreigh, 85, of Bluffton, formerly of Ossian, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Ossian to the late Donald S. and Hazel B. Bolinger Kreigh. He graduated from Ossian High School in 1947 and then went on to earn his degree in agriculture at Purdue University. He is a U. S. Marine veteran, serving as a captain in the first marine division during the Korean War. He worked and then retired from farming and carpentry. He loved to fish, garden, and travel, thoroughly enjoying his three trips to Alaska. He was a member of Ossian First Presbyterian Church, where he volunteered and helped with many projects and events.
Surviving are his children, Janet Chaney of Ossian, Judith Kreigh of Bloomington, David (Amy) Kreigh of Ossian, Susan (James) Kreigh-Gochis of Golden, Co., and Linda (Jerry) Clausman of Highlands Ranch, Co.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and companion Joyce Genth of Decatur.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Kreigh; and his wife, Opal (Bard) Kreigh in 1990. Being wed Oct. 14, 1951, they enjoyed nearly 39 years together.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Ossian First Presbyterian Church, 123 S. Jefferson St., Ossian, with one hour of visitation prior. Visitation will also be Friday, Dec. 26, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made to the Ossian First Presbyterian Church.
