James R. Palmer, 45, of Bluffton, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, May 15, 2015, at his residence in Bluffton.
James was born Aug. 10, 1969, in West Virginia to James Roy Palmer Sr. and Alice Mae (Adkins) Palmer. He grew up and graduated from Dupont High School in Belle, W.V., and worked in the coal mines. James moved to Bluffton in 2007, and worked at Metaldyne in Bluffton for some time. He was a very talented handyman and was an avid sports fan especially football and basketball. He enjoyed animals, especially his cat “Big Boy.”
He is survived by his companion Barbara I. Garrison and her mother Norma J. Garrison, both of Bluffton and was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by an aunt, Carolyn “Sue” Gibson of Elkhart; uncles Paul (Annette) Adkins of Chicopee Falls, Mass., and David Adkins of Elkhart; and a cousin, Lee Gibson.
A service to celebrate James life will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton with calling from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. prior to the service. Life Celebrant Jeff Lemler will officiate. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Wells County Animal Shelter through the Wells County Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
