Leah D. Dalton, 91, of Bluffton, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
A resident of Bluffton since October 2010, she was born March 30, 1923, in Springfield, Mass., to Kenneth and Marion Reed Chapman. She lived most of her life in the Boston area. She worked for many years in the Wellesley, Mass., school district and previously was a switch board operator at New England Telephone Company.
She obtained her life saving badge and loved the beach and spending time on Cape Cod. She attended Life Community Church.
Leah is survived by a daughter, Sharen (Mark) Davis of Chino Hills, Calif., and a son, William “Billy” Dalton of rural Bluffton.
Also surviving are a grandson Joshua Davis of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and a sister, Jean (Joseph) Merton of East Long Meadow, Mass.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Dalton, and two brothers, Kenneth Chapman and George Chapman.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Cortright officiating.
Calling will be Friday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
