Kenneth W. Kirkwood, 83, of Bluffton, passed away at 10:38 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
A lifelong resident of Wells County, Kenneth was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Wells County to Ray and Janet Mae Elston Kirkwood.
He was a 1949 graduate of Petroleum High School. On Jan. 21, 1950, in Ossian, he married Evelyn Irene Onweller; they have shared the last 64 years together. Kenneth worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in maintenance of the Compressor Station for 23 years, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of Bluffton, along with three children, Sandra Sue (Randy) Davis of Van Buren, Pamela Jo (William) Powelson of Convoy, Ohio, and Douglas Wayne (Rhonda) Kirkwood of Woodburn; along with a sister, Donna (Charles) Cochran of Bluffton; five grandchildren, Jamie Werling of Indianapolis, Kelli (Nate) Brumbaugh of Bellevue, Ohio, Nathan (Kristin) Powelson of Convoy, Ohio, and Megan Kirkwood and Colby Kirkwood, both of Woodburn; two stepgrandchildren, Ryan and Chelsea Girardot of Woodburn; and two great-grandchildren, Madi and Mason Brumbaugh, both of Bellevue, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, along with a infant brother and a grandson, Jason Werling.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Pastor Ralph Klinker will officiate. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery in Wells County.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
