Julia E. Kauffman, 88

Julia E. Kauffman, 88 of Bluffton, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
Born on Aug. 27, 1924, in Salem to Harry and Mabel (Colglazier) Zink, she married Verlin D. Kauffman on Feb. 25, 1946 in Columbus; they shared 48 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1994.
She attended and graduated from Columbus High School.
Julia and Verlin owned and operated Kauffman & Sons Construction for 36 years. Along with being a full-time mother and grandma, she also worked with Verlin and served as the secretary and handling the clerical side of the family business. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton and a long time member of the St. John Worship Center in Vera Cruz.
Julia is survived by two sons, Gregory (Deb) Kauffman and Richard (Laurel) Kauffman, both of Bluffton ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Della) Zink of Florida, and Richard (Mary Jane) Zink of South Carolina; and a sister, Mary Anderson of Bluffton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Bradley Kauffman in 1972; and a brother, Gerald Zink.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, at the St. John’s Worship Center in Vera Cruz, with Rev. Don Rentschler officiating. There will also be calling for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. 
Burial will follow at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.
