John E. Hanna, 95, of Ossian, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013.
He was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Ossian to John D. Hanna and Eva C. Hoover Hanna.
He retired from Rockwell International as a chemical engineer in the aerospace division. He enjoyed bicycling, his work with the Boy Scouts, and Wabash College.
Surviving family include his wife, Gene Platt Hanna of Ossian; his children, Nancy Kelly (Richard Shull) of Ossian, Priscilla (Raymond) Hartley of LaGrange, John C. (Diane) Hanna of Rochester, N.Y., Frederick (Bonnie) Hanna of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Robert (Terry) Hanna of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; his grandchildren, Angelia (Don) Frisch, Robert (Carla) Kelly, Bill (Peggy) Smith, Jamie (Matt) Chamberlain, Jonathan (Stephanie) Hanna, Joseph (Tasha) Hanna, and Torrey, Stephanie, Julie, and Michelle Hanna; 16 great grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; and a nephew, Fr. Daniel Hanna.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by a son, William Michael Hanna, and three siblings, Russell Hanna, Mary Lehner, and Lavita Zundell.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or to Wabash College.
