Jean Mae Boxell, 84, of Warren, passed away at 10:18 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 8, 2013 at Heritage Pointe in Warren.
Born on Tuesday, Apr. 24, 1928, in Trenton, N.J., to Frank and Mildred (Mabey) Curtin, she married James H. Boxell in Columbia City on July 26, 1952. Her husband preceded her in death in July of 1997.
Jean graduated from-Hamilton High School in Trenton, Class of 1947. She had worked at Weaver Popcorn in Van Buren and Caylor Nickel Clinic in Bluffton. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts. Jean was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was also a member of the Mt. Zion Home Economics Club and the Busy Bees Home Economics Club of Bluffton. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warren.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy L. (Keith) Tucker, Poneto; a son, David (Dana) Boxell, Warren; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Karly) Tucker of Culver, Stacey (Chris) Duncan of Bluffton, Jonathan Tucker of Poneto, Rebecca (Ryan) Wilson of Ossian, Joshua (Beth) Boxell of Galveston, Rochelle (John) Smiley of Marion, and Adam (Krystal) Boxell of Marion; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Irene Lockwood.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home 203 N Matilda St., Warren on Monday, March 11, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday, March 12, from 10 to 11 a.m.
A service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, with Pastor Ed Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Cemetery in Warren.
Preferred memorials are to the First Baptist Church, 727 N. Wayne St., Warren, IN 46792.
