Janet N. Steffen, 77, of Bluffton, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Christian Care Retirement Community.
Born in Portland on Aug. 17, 1935 to Ora and Anna Lee (Moorman) Bubp, she married Raymond W. Steffen on May 10, 1980 in Bluffton; he passed away on Feb. 22, 2001.
She was a waitress at the Snug Restaurant and South Main Pizza, a member of the Moose Lodge for more than 30 years, and was also a member at the Eagles Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Bluffton Post 111. For many years, she and her husband spent their winter months in Frostproof, Fla.
Survivors include three daughters, Twyla (Melbin) Bice, of Bluffton, Linda Goetz of Howe, and Cathy (Randy) Smith of Portland; two step-sons, Jerry (June) Steffen of Auburn and David Steffen of Bluffton; two step-daughters, Barbara Klosterman of Bluffton and Scheryl Krumma of Ossian; three grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchilden; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Thornburg; a brother, Rex Bubp; and a sister, Rosemary Sweigart.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel. Services will be held there Thursday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m., with Chad Ringger officiating.
Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
