Howard Hinton, 83

Howard LeRoy Hinton, 83, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013 at Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington.
He was born Aug. 26, 1929 in Fairmount, the son of the late Oral and Estia Marie (Zentemyer) Hinton.
Howard attended Anderson High School and was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Marines. He later earned a degree in engineering during his 40 year career with General Motors as a Journeyman/Millwright.
On Aug. 21, 1976 Howard married Carol (Stump) Frank in Huntington. Membership affiliations include the Masons, Blue Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. Howard really enjoyed woodworking with his vast assortment of tools he had collected.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Carol of Roanoke; children Paul(Sue) Hinton of Centerpoint, Howard R. Hinton of Brazil, ReAnn (Tom) Donaghy of Fort Wayne, Tammy (Mark) Boohaw of Brazil, Kim (Perry) Myers of Huntington, and Tim (Toni) Frank of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oral and Estia Hinton and a sister, Madelaine Hinton.
Friends may call on Sunday Jan. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. with calling one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Wilmot. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed The Children or to St Joseph Burn Unit. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
