Frederick A. Kiefer, 74

Frederick A. Kiefer, 74, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his home.
He was raised in Bluffton and graduated from Lancaster Central High School in 1956. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the aggregate industry and also managed Agro Enterprises Inc. in Liberty Center. Fred was an avid hunter and outdoorsman with a love of nature and God’s creation.
Mr. Kiefer was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Dunbridge, Ohio, to Woodrow Kiefer and Lucille Maddux Kiefer. He married Marilyn A. Wilson Kiefer Aug. 31, 1957, at the Murray Missionary Church. His wife survives.
Also surviving are a son, Scott Kiefer of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Kathy (Mike) Pate of Bluffton; three grandchildren, Adam Pate, Amanda (Andrew) Tucker, and Ryan Kiefer; and a great-grandchild, Elly Rae Kiefer.  He is also survived by two sisters, Nina (Hargis) Sizemore of Ossian and Celia Kiefer of Bluffton; three brothers, Don (Linda) Kiefer of Bluffton, Tom (LaVerne) Kiefer of San Mateo, Calif., and Rex Kiefer of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Rita Kiefer of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Kiefer.
A service celebrating Fred’s life will be held at the Murray Missionary Church at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, with Pastor Mike Gilbert officiating.  Calling will be at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.  Preferred memorials are to the Murray Missionary Church or to Family Life Care Hospice.
