Carl Steffen, 72

Posted on May 8, 2013

The father of a Bluffton woman, Carl A. Steffen, 72, Ravenna, Mich., went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
Carl’s father and mother, Aaron and Helen (Foreman) Steffen were originally from the Wells/Adams/Jay County area before settling in West Michigan. Carl married Myrna Pashak from Kawkalin, Mich., on June 14, 1962.
Carl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved antique tractor pulling and tractor rides with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and visiting over a cup of coffee. Although always a farmer at heart, Carl found his gift was working with people and made his living as a financial adviser in West Michigan for nearly 40 years.
Survivors include Carl and Myrna’s five children, Terry (Laurie) Steffen of Grand Rapids, Mich., Treasure (Mike) Reynolds of Bartlesville, Okla., Michelle (Brad) Baumgartner of Bluffton, Jill Casper of Parker, Colo., and Mark (Stacey) Steffen of Phoenix, Ariz.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife Myrna; a granddaughter, Molly Rose; and a sister, Donna.
Carl was again married March 25, 2007, and is survived by his wife, Sue (Foreman) Steffen; seven stepchildren, Chad Foreman, Todd (Jamie) Foreman, Jesse (Melissa) Foreman, Rebecca, Melissa, Nathan, and Mark Foreman all of West Michigan; 14 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; brothers Aaron and Tim Steffen; and sisters Patricia Schlatter and Kathy Knochel also survive.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 10, from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at the Stegenga Funeral Home, 1601 Post Dr. NE in Belmont, Mich., followed by a funeral service with Pastor Jerry Julian officiating.
The family will host a reception Saturday, May 11, from 9 to11:00 a.m., at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall, 7157 Wingeier Avenue in Alto, Mich., prior to a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ’s Temple Church in Ravenna.
