MOBILE, Ala. — Jarrod Parker, one of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ top pitching prospects, was selected on Tuesday with seven other Mobile BayBears teammates to the Southern League South Division All-Star team.
Parker will not be available to be play in the July 13 All-Star Game, because he will be attending the All-Star Futures Game in St. Louis during the Major League All-Star Game celebration.
Catcher Orlando Mercado, who has been promoted to the Diamondbacks’ Triple-A Reno team, also was named along with outfielders Cyle Hankerd and Chris Rahl, infielders Sean Coughlin, Pedro Ciriaco and Ricardo Sosa and starting pitcher Barry Enright.
Parker has the lowest earned run average (2.87) among the BayBears’ starting pitchers, fanning 51 hitters in 53 1/3 innings.
Imel places 75th in Women’s Open
Norwell graduate Kaylee Imel of Bluffton finished 75th in the Indiana Women’s Golf Open on Tuesday at The Legends of Indiana course in Franklin.
Imel was 16-over for the final round and ended up 28-over for the two-day event.
Carmel’s Aimee Neff won the tournament at one-under. Jutnhima Gulyanamitta of West Lafayette and Julia Potter of Granger tied for second at three-over.
