Tigers rout Starfires

For the second straight game, the Bluffton Tigers’ bats have been hot.

On Thursday night at Berne, the Tigers rocked four South Adams Starfires’ pitchers for 17 hits in a 15-1 romp in just five innings.

Tyler Holmes was the Tigers’ star on the mound and in the batter’s box. Holmes hit a grand slam home run and pitched a five-hitter. He struck out six and walked one.

Jarred Carpenter, Jake King, Tanner McKinney and Gary Green each added two RBIs for the Tigers (8-14-1). Cameron Gerber, Mark Vanderkolk and Landon Eads each had one RBI. King scored four runs. Gerber doubled and Justin Pearson scored three runs.

Kyle DeArmond was the losing pitcher and Daniel Bollenbacher smacked a solo home run.
