WELLS COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 2008-7
An Ordinance Establishing
A Stop Sign
At Settlers Trace and
Little River Trace
WHEREAS, I.C. 36-9-2-1 et seq. and I.C. 9-4-1-32, as well as several related State statutes, authorize and empower local authorities to establish, maintain, and operate public roads, regulate the use thereof, determine preferential county roads, and place signs to control the traffic thereon; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Wells County, Indiana, desires to change the existing intersection of Settlers Trace and Little River Trace in Wells County, Indiana by adding a stop sign to control traffic and make safe the flow of the anticipated traffic; and
WHEREAS, the County Engineer has studied the subdivision and it anticipated traffic flow and has determined that, according to all guidelines, a stop sign should be placed on SettlersTrace at the existing intersection; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Wells County, Indiana, desires to adopt an ordinance to place a stop sign on Settlers Trace at that intersection;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of Wells County, Indiana, that:
1. A stop sign shall be placed at the intersection of Settlers Trace and Little River Trace stopping traffic on Settlers Trace.
2. Said intersection shall henceforth be designated as a one-way stop intersection.
3. Motorists shall observe the stop signs in accordance with the direction of the signs posted at the intersection of Settlers Trace and Little River Trace.
4. Pursuant to I.C. 9-20-1-4, any violation of this ordinance shall constitute a Class C Infraction.
6. This Ordinance shall become effective upon its passage.
ALL AS ORDAINED THIS 5th day of May, 2008.
