Top 2008 Bluffton High School scholars named

Kelsey Rae Crowe is valedictorian and Angela Marie Smith is salutatorian of Bluffton High School’s Class of 2008.

Kelsey is the daughter of Christopher and Susan Crowe of Bluffton. She is a member of the National Honor Society and will receive an Academic Honors Diploma at graduation.

Treasurer of her senior class, she is also presently the Student Council treasurer. Kelsey was a Hoosier Girls State delegate during her junior year. She has been listed on the National Honor Roll for four years and also named in Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

In her junior year, she placed 10th in the American Chemical Society Examination of 2007. She has attained perfect attendance during her four years of high school while being named to the High Honor Roll list all four years.

As a freshman, she received the Award of Scholastic Achievement from the Wells County Community Foundation and the Bluffton Rotary Club.

A Tiger Scholar Athlete and a member of the swim team for four years, she was named Academic All Conference in swimming her senior year. She was a member of the Huntington/Wells Otters Club Swim Team for three years.

Kelsey will attend Purdue University where she will major in computer graphics.

Angela Smith is the daughter of Mark and Diane Smith of Bluffton.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and upon graduation will receive an Academic Honors Diploma.

A member of the S.M.A.D. Club her senior year, she has attained six years of perfect attendance in her middle school and high school careers. She has been on the High Honor Roll list all four years of high school. She was chosen outstanding junior girl by Bluffton High School’s faculty.

She was named a recipient of an Award of Scholastic Achievement from the Wells County Community Foundation and the Bluffton Rotary Club in her freshman year.

A member of the girls’ choir in her freshman year, she has been in show choir for three years and has been dance captain for two years. Angela has been a member of the varsity girls’ tennis team for four years.

Active in the community, she has been a Sunday School teacher for two years, a Bible School music assistant for three years, tutored in the elementary school and has worked as a teen volunteer at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo for three years.

She was a People to People Student Ambassador for one year and was nominated as Ambassador of the Year after traveling to Australia. A member of the Girl Scouts for 10 years, she has studied ballet for 12 years and piano for three years.

Angela will be attending Butler University where she will major in biology, with plans to attend veterinary school and become a zoo veterinarian.
