The odds are, he won’t   even buy a lottery ticket

September 9, 2013 — By DAVE SCHULTZ

I missed it.
Somebody won the Hoosier Lotto jackpot Saturday night. The jackpot was $19 million. Since the jackpot starts at $1 million and increases by $500,000 each week, that meant that there had been no winner for Hoosier Lotto for 18 weeks. Grabbing a calendar and a calculator, I figure the last winning numbers were drawn on May 4.
I’m the guy who puts the lottery numbers in the paper each morning. I don’t often buy a lottery ticket, although I did put down a couple of bob a few weeks ago when the Powerball jackpot exceeded the national debt. I didn’t win. I didn’t expect to, but I hoped I would.
