Former IU coach’s son, ND recruit join Hoosiers
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — The son of former Indiana coach Cam Cameron and a linebacker who originally signed with Notre Dame and was attending school there have committed to play for the Hoosiers this fall.
Indiana coach Kevin Wilson on Friday announced the additions of quarterback Danny Cameron and linebacker Nile Sykes, both freshmen.
Cameron’s father coached the Hoosiers from 1997-2001, the Miami Dolphins in 2007 and is now LSU’s offensive coordinator. Cameron played at Baton Rouge Catholic.
Sykes signed with Notre Dame in February and started classes there last month, but was granted his request to be released so he will be eligible to play for Indiana this fall. Sykes played at Montini Catholic in Lombard, Ill., last season, making 80 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.
Notre Dame tickets go on sale
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame will begin selling tickets for six football games online beginning July 10 and in person the next day.
The university announced Thursday that tickets remain for the season-opener against Rice on Aug. 30, against Stanford on Oct. 4, against North Carolina on Oct. 11, against Northwestern on Nov. 15 and for Louisville on Nov. 22. Tickets for the Shamrock Series game against Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sept. 13 also are available.
No tickets are available for the Michigan game on Sept. 6.
Tickets go on sale online 6 p.m. July 10 and at Purcell Pavilion and by 8:30 a.m. July 11.
AdamsWells tops PNC Bank
Colton Yergler struck out 10 batters and doubled to help AdamsWells Internet defeat PNC Bank 6-2 Thursday night in a Bluffton Junior League baseball game at Jefferson Park.
AdamsWells Internet, which slugged 11 hits, scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to ice the victory. Spencer Harris hammered a home run, a double and two singles to lead the hitting. Colton Paxson, Hayden Craighead and Austin Combs each doubled and singled. Yergler was the winning pitcher.
Tanner Cooley doubled and singled twice to lead PNC Bank, which had five hits.
Bluffton Dental lights up State Farm
Fireworks came early at Jefferson Park when Bluffton Dental hammered 25 hits to plaster State Farm 30-4 Thursday night in a Bluffton Junior League baseball game at Jefferson Park.
Bluffton Dental scored 10 runs in the second and third innings. Winning pitcher Case Smith slugged three home runs out of the park in addition to a double and single. Jarrett Phillippe added two homers, three singles and a double. Kaden Gerber tripled, doubled and singled twice. Cooper King tripled, doubled and singled three times. Garrett Lantz doubled, and Kaine Harris and Tony Carreno each singled twice.
Richard Zickafoose doubled for State Farm, which was held to two hits. Jakobie McCormick was the losing pitcher.
Bluffton Junior League
tournament schedule released
The Bluffton Junior League’s postseason double-elimination tournament will begin Monday, July 7, with two games at Jefferson Park.
First Bank of Berne will play Bluffton Dental in the first game at 6 p.m., followed by AdamsWells Internet against Pizza Hut at 8 p.m.
At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, State Farm will play the winner of Monday’s first game. PNC Bank will play the winner of Monday’s second game at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Loser’s bracket games are scheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
A winner’s bracket game is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, July 10, followed by a loser’s bracket game at 8 p.m. A loser’s bracket game is set for 7 p.m. Friday, July 11. The championship finals are set for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 12.
