Carroll tops Knights
in NHC softball 4-1
The Norwell Knights’ varsity girls’ softball team was defeated 4-1 in Northeast Hoosier Conference action Friday evening at Norwell.
Carroll scored two runs in the third inning and added two more runs to go ahead 4-0. Norwell broke the Chargers’ bid for a shutout with a run in the seventh inning.
Carroll raised its overall record to 12-2 and upped its NHC mark to 2-0. Norwell fell to 9-4 and 1-1.
Tiffany Williams (6-4) was the losing pitcher. She allowed four runs on 10 hits over seven innings, while walking two batters and striking out three.
The Knights were held to three singles by Williams, Madison Dunnuck and Caitlin Herndon. Williams drove in Herndon for the Knights’ run. Herndon also was walked, and Alissa Hanni was hit by a pitch.
Bluffton athletic physicals slated
The Bluffton Athletic Boosters will sponsor athletic physicals for Bluffton students in grades 5-12 from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the high school. Students should enter through Door No. 5. Athletic physical forms are available in the high school office. All necessary information must be completed before the examination. Cost is $10 for each student.
