Raiders runners top Woodlan

Taylor Thompson and Ivy Maddox were individual winners Tuesday evening to lead the Southern Wells Raiders’ cross country teams to Allen County Athletic Conference victories over the visiting Woodlan Warriors.
Thompson won the boys’ 5,000-meter race by 90 seconds in 18:18, while Maddox led four teammates into the finish chute with a time of 21:17 in the girls’ race.
The Raiders’ boys topped Woodlan 22-35, while the girls won by default since the Warriors only had three runners.
Daniel Mossburg was second for the Raiders in 19:48. Woodlan’s Ben Gruber was third in 19:59. Nick Childers was fourth for the Raiders in 20:21. Josh Markley was seventh in 21:28 and Bryce Paxson eighth in 21:57. Josh Leidig was 10th in 23:21 and Blade Rheinhart 11th in 23:22.
Zach Barrett and Jay Knepp were fifth and sixth for Woodlan in 21:00 and 21:05, respectively.
Brooke Penrod was second in 21:59 for the Raiders’ girls. Meghan Yencer was third in 22:14 and Chloe Maddox fourth in 22:33. Cassandra Lomont was fifth for Woodlan in 24:11, and teammate Ellie Kayser was sixth in 24:12.
Tori Wiese was the fifth finisher for the Raiders in seventh place in 24:18. Other Southern Wells finishers were Autumn Stevens eighth in 24:45, Lindsey Aker ninth in 25:26 and Alexis Skidmore 10th in 30:19.
