Raiders cage Bulldogs for big homecoming win
September 7, 2013 — By PAUL BEITLER
After having not played a home football game since Oct. 7, 2011, the Southern Wells Raiders responded Friday night with a 19-6 victory over Clinton Central at Carnes Field.
It was the first home win since that night in 2011 when the Raiders routed Monroe Central 41-7.
The Raiders (1-2) and Clinton Central had trouble mounting an offensive thrust in the first half, but the Raiders came through and scored first to take a lead with 4:09 to go in the second period.
Sophomore quarterback Bryce Bonewit found junior running back Daniel Beeks on a passing route over the middle, and Beeks grabbed the pass and raced 53 yards to the end zone. The extra-point kick by Zach Biddle put the Raiders ahead 7-0.
