ORDINANCE NO.1355
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AND REPLACING CHAPTER 2.36.020 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
BLUFFTON, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Bluffton has authority under the Acts of the Indiana General Assembly to make all necessary regulations for the preservation of the rights, property, health, safety and welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council is charged with the establishment and re-establishment of election districts for the City of Bluffton which districts are to be:
1. Composed of contiguous territories;
2. Reasonably compact;
3. Do not cross precinct boundary lines except to establish election districts of equal population as nearly as is practicable;
4. Contain, as nearly as is practicable, equal population; and
5. Encompass communities with common interests; and this ordinance accomplishes these goals;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BLUFFTON, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: There shall be re-established four (4) election districts for the City of Bluffton as set forth in Section 2.36.020 of the Municipal Code of Ordinances which shall be completely repealed and replaced by 2.36.020 as set forth herein:
2.36.020 DISTRICTS DESIGNATED
The election districts are designated as follows:
A.  District One (1) is that portion of the City of Bluffton which is located in Lancaster Township and is also east of the centerline of Main Street.
B. District Two (2) is that portion of the City of Bluffton, Indiana, which is located west and north of the following described line: Beginning at a point where Main Street intersects with the north city limit, then southerly on and along the centerline of Main Street to the southern boundary of Lancaster Township, then westerly on and along the souther boundary of Lancaster Township to a point where it intersects with the Norfolk and Southern railroad tracks, then southerly on and along the centerline of said railroad tracks to a point where said railroad tracks would intersect with a natural extension of Indiana Street, then southerly on and along the center line of Indiana Street to its intersection with Clark Avenue, then southwesterly on and along the center line of Clark Avenue to the south city limit.
C. District Three (3) is that portion of the City of Bluffton which is located in Harrison Township and is also east and south of the line marking the eastern boundary of District Two (2) as described hereinabove and is also located west of the centerline of Main Street.
D. District Four (4) is that portion of the City of Bluffton which is located in Harrison Township and is also east of the centerline of Main Street.
This Ordinance shall be in force upon adoption and publication as required by law.
Passed by the Common Council of the City of Bluffton, Indiana this 22nd day of January, 2013, by the following vote:
